Hemocompatibility testing is essential for evaluating the interactions of a drug with human blood. Because the quality of the collected blood is extremely important to achieving a physiologically relevant analysis, hemocompatibility testing should be performed with fresh blood collected from healthy subjects (ref Blok et al., 2016). This is precisely the basis for our platform, which allows drug interactions with all blood components to be evaluated in a dynamic model that mimics human blood circulation. Our system enables evaluation of adverse drug effects on red blood cells (hemolysis), coagulation, complement system, platelets and leukocytes, all using the same blood sample.
